- Join and participate in statewide advocacy organizations such as: NAMI-VT, VAMHAR, Green Mountain Self-Advocates, Vermont Psychiatric Survivors, Vermont Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health, Disabilities Rights Vermont Coalition for Disability Rights
Fight Against Stigma
- Talk openly about mental health, intellectual and developmental disabilities and substance use disorders
- Educate yourself and others – Take a mental health first aid course.
- Be conscious of language – use person-first language
- Fight for parity
- Show compassion and empathy
