About Green Mountain Support Services
Green Mountain Support Services was founded as a Specialized Service Agency in 1986 to provide an alternative for individuals seeking developmental services. Our original specialty was helping individuals who experience challenging behaviors to more effectively communicate their needs so that they can live their best lives. While our services have expanded in a number of ways over the years, this specialty remains a core strength.
Today, GMSS is designated by the Department of Aging and Independent Living to provide care through several programs, including:
- Developmental Services
- Adult Family Care
- Brain Injury
We believe all people have the right to direct their own lives, regardless of disability, and our purpose is to help individuals meet their goals, whatever they may be – better health, greater independence, career development, stronger relationships, etc. We also believe that every person contributes unique value to their community and that communities are strengthened when people with disabilities are fully included and have meaningful opportunities for participation, growth, and self-determination.
Services Offered
We provide services through northern and central Vermont and provide a wide range of support services, including:
- Service Coordination
- Employment
- Community
- Residential (with options ranging from independent living to shared living)
- Respite
- Clinical (nursing oversight, communication support, behavior support, etc.)
- Transportation
- Crisis
